Get Me Back In The Water - a six week challenge

I used to love swimming - in fact in my younger days I was pretty good at it. I swam in competitions and won my fair share of things. Fast forward to now - I still remember all my technique, but I'm seriously out of shape thanks to several years with no regular specific exercise. I talked recently about my intentions for getting healthy and I've chosen swimming to help me get back into the kind of shape where I can then go ahead and use the gym too.
I'm planning so do a simple program based on 0 to 1650 in Six Weeks - my goal is to ease back into something I can achieve and sustain. I'm lucky enough to have brilliant readers who are sometimes a bit like fairy godmothers. Through the magic of blogging I'm now sitting here with a brand new Garmin Swim on my wrist and a challenge.

I'm tasked with showing you how gadgets like this can help motivate everybody not just athletes. I personally am far more motivated when I can see the results of any kind of exercise in numbers, that's why I like fitness trackers such as Fitbit and Jawbone Up so much. Sadly there's not yet a device that can track all your daily activity AND swimming.
I'm not fit and I'm certainly not a sporty person, but it's nice to have something like this to keep track of my efforts from the very beginning. I'm notoriously bad at keeping track of lengths and time whilst in the pool, so it's great that now I don't have to!

As you can see from the display, I've not taken it for a whirl yet but I'll let you know how I get on with it. I've got some tasty raw recipes lined up to post too so you'll see lots of the yummy vegan goodness I'm planning to eat whilst trying to loose weight - I'm not going to be talking about the exercise side too much, but it's fair to give it a meantioning since it's an important part of weight loss.
